The system
The proven bituminous system for roofs, gutters and podiums that take a hammering.
Torch on is a two-layer reinforced bituminous sheet, heat welded to the substrate and to itself. It is tough, thick and forgiving over uneven concrete — which is why it is still the go-to for internal gutters, plant decks and podiums that carry traffic.
Every job runs under a hot works permit with our own fire watch, extinguishers and a documented shutdown at the end of each day. On occupied buildings we sequence around the tenants rather than the other way round.

Substrate assessment
Moisture, cure and falls checked, and any ponding areas identified before we quote a build-up.

Prep and prime
Grinding, patching, fillets to upstands and bitumen primer across the whole area.

Two-layer application
Base sheet and cap sheet torched and rolled, with staggered laps and full bond confirmed.

Flood test and sign-off
Flood or spray testing where practical, photos of every detail and a producer statement.
Common questions
What builders usually ask us.
Is open flame a problem on an occupied building?
It is managed, not ignored. We work to a hot works permit, keep our own fire watch on site for an hour after we stop, and where flame is genuinely unsuitable we will price a self-adhesive or liquid alternative instead.
Can you overlay a failed bitumen roof?
Usually yes. If the existing sheet is well bonded and dry, an overlay is faster and cheaper than a strip out. Wet insulation has to come out — we will core test and tell you which it is.
How does it handle ponding?
Better than most systems, but ponding is still a falls problem. If the deck holds water we will quote screeds or tapered insulation to fix the cause.
